Real Madrid open talks with Getafe over deal for promising teenage striker

Real Madrid look set to bring in a decent amount of money this summer. They’ve already all-but closed a deal for Rafa Marin to join, Jesus Vallejo will be moving on (provided that a buyer can be found), while it seems inevitable that Alvaro Rodriguez will also be departing on a permanent basis.

Rodriguez broke into the Real Madrid first team during the second half of the 2022-23 campaign, but despite expectation being that he would be at Carlo Ancelotti disposal last season, he was never called upon, aside from on a couple of occasions. He played for Castilla instead.

Because there is no clear route to the first team for Rodriguez, the decision has been taken to sell him. Getafe are one of the clubs interested, and according to The Athletic, talks are already underway with Real Madrid. Real Sociedad are also keen, but for now, Los Azulones are favourites.

As is usually the case with Real Madrid, the deal will almost certainly include a sell-on clause, while a buy-back option is also a possibility. It will allow Los Blancos to still have some control over Rodriguez’s future.
