Barcelona tell 21-year-old that he will be moved on this summer despite pre-season plans

It’s widely considered that this summer will be Ansu Fati’s last chance to convince Barcelona officials that he can be of value in the first team, which is now overseen by Hansi Flick. Xavi Hernandez’s departure does give the 21-year-old a better chance of staying, although it seems like it is still not enough.

According to Sport, Barcelona have told Fati’s representatives that it is almost certain that he will be moved on this summer, although the final decision on the matter will be made by Flick. He will get the chance to impress during pre-season, which will include joining the tour of the United States.

Barcelona’s idea is to send Fati on another loan deal, with the vast majority of his salary being covered as a minimum. A permanent exit is also on the agenda, although club officials believe that this is not a possibility because of the young winger’s poor spell at Brighton and Hove Albion last season.

It’s very much last chance saloon for Fati at Barcelona. If he fails to impress Flick in the coming weeks, it will be almost guaranteed that he leaves this summer. What started as very promising in 2019 is now possibly coming into its final stages.
