Arsenal showing interest in two Barcelona defenders, opening moves have already been made

Although Barcelona are expected to return to La Liga’s 1:1 rule imminently, thus allowing them more wiggle room in their ability to sign players this summer, they are still struggling massively in a financial sense. Because of this, there is a good chance that significant sales take place.

One player that could be on the chopping block is Jules Kounde, especially considering Barcelona’s interest in Jeremie Frimpong. The French defender has been a mainstay at right-back over the last couple of seasons, and he has been excellent for the most part, although that may not stop a sale from taking place, especially as Arsenal have enquired about his availability, as per Jijantes.

It’s not only Kounde that is of interest to Arsenal, as HITC have reported that Mikel Arteta’s side have also asked about Mikayil Faye, whose proposed move to Porto has slowed down in recent days. The young defender looks destined to leave this summer, and a deal with the Premier League giants could be beneficial for Barcelona in a financial sense.

It would be surprising if Kounde left Barcelona, especially considering the strong speculation surrounding Ronald Araujo’s future. It’s likely that Arsenal will have a much better chance with Faye, especially as he would also be significant cheaper.

  1. I’m disappointed by Arteta’s penchant for average players! You went to Barcalona to scout, you did not see Ronaldo Araujo? Only Kounde and Faye you noticed? Thats a poor scouting work.
Araujo would have replaced outgoing Van Dijk as the best central defender in the Premiership. Honestly speaking, we’ve not been getting it right in the scouting arena.
