Atletico Madrid’s Adrian Lopez has been dealt a blow with the news that he must undergo surgery on a facial injury sustained yesterday evening.
The forward, who was linked this summer with an exit from Los Colchoneros, was a notable performer in his side’s 3-1 win over Zenit St Petersburg in the Champions League yesterday evening.
However, an blow sustained forced Adrian off 12 minutes from time and his club have today confirmed that he has fractured part of the right cheekbone.
The injury requires surgical intervention, which Atleti report will be carried out this afternoon. It is speculated that the 25-year-old will be restricted for around three weeks to aerobic and solitary training, whilst he will also have to wear a protective mask for while.
