Osasuna have made an approach for Sevilla defender Juan Cala, according to Marca.
The Andalusians themselves are understood to be interested in the Pamplona club’s highly-rated centre-back Alejandro Arribas, yet the €5m release clause in the player’s contract appears to have put them off.
However, Osasuna may be prepared to do business if Cala [pictured] becomes the makeweight in any deal as boss Jose Luis Mendilibar sees it as a like-for-like exchange.
Spain Under-19 international Cala, 23, made just 10 appearances for Los Nervionenses last term and in principal is part of boss Unai Emery’s plans for next season, although he has struggled to hold down a regular place at the Sanchez Pizjuan since returning from a six-month loan spell with AEK Athens in January 2012.
