Barcelona receive two offers for fringe player, either deal would be complicated

Barcelona need to make significant sales over the coming weeks if they are to return to La Liga’s 1:1 rule for the summer transfer window. The idea is for fringe players to be moved on firstly, and one who is a prime candidate to be gone is Clement Lenglet, whose loan spell at Aston Villa has now finished.

Barcelona have been desperate to sell Lenglet for the last two summers, but on both occasions, they had to settle for a loan deal (to Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa respectively). They will hope it’s third time lucky in 2024, and they have already received two offers from clubs in Saudi Arabia, according to Sport.

The problem for Barcelona is that Lenglet has little interest in a move to the Middle East, and his idea is to remain in Europe – he would be open to a temporary or permanent exit. This is sure to create problems for the Catalan giants, who want the situation finalised as soon as possible. For now, that looks unlikely unless a European suitor comes in quickly.

  1. They hope to sell a flop player like lenglet? Would they buy him now, with all his qualities? No? What makes them think anyone else would?
