Barcelona receive bid for young centre-back as two sides compete for signature

Barcelona are trying to move on at least four players this week, and one of them is Senegalese central defender Mikayil Faye. The 20-year-old has been deemed surplus to requirements by new manager Hansi Flick.

Last week it was revealed that Rennes had made a €10m bid for Faye that included a 20-25% sell-on fee, but it appears that Barcelona are after more, as talks are still ongoing. Inter had also registered an interest, but decided to go in a different direction.

Now Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Lille have made a bid for the Barcelona centre-back. It’s not yet clear for how much, but the transfer insider has explained that the Catalan giants will require both a sell-on fee percentage, as well as a buyback clause in order to let him go.

It appears he will be on his way out come what may, with at least seven central defenders ahead of him the pecking order based on preseason. As Barcelona traveled to Valencia, he was left out of the squad, with youngster Sergi Dominguez ahead of him, as well as Eric Garcia, Clement Lenglet, Andreas Christensen, Pau Cubarsi, Inigo Martinez and Ronald Araujo.
