Girona manager Michel Sanchez considered among candidates for vacant Chelsea job

On Tuesday, Chelsea parted ways with manager Mauricio Pochettino, formerly of Espanyol. The Premier League giants are now on the hunt for a replacement, and one of their considerations is in La Liga.

That’s according to Ben Jacobs, who has stated that Girona head coach Michel Sanchez has been discussed among the Chelsea hierarchy, alongside the likes of Newcastle United’s Eddie Howe and Brentford manager Thomas Frank.

Michel’s stock is incredibly high at the moment because of his exploits with Girona this season, and it’s not the first Premier League job he has been linked with. He was also touted as a candidate for Manchester United, and a managerial move to England could be on the cards at some stage.

However, it would be very surprising if it were to take place this summer, as the expectation is that Michel will lead Girona in their first ever Champions League campaign. That’s not to say that he would turn down Chelsea if they come calling, and it remains to be seen whether they do just that.
