Pako: Valencia don’t need changes

Pako Ayestaran insists he will not change his ways and neither must Valencia ahead of Athletic Bilbao on Sunday. “The players are enjoying their work…”

Celta Vigo’s draw with Osasuna left Valencia rooted to the bottom of La Liga, Los Che having lost all three of their opening matches, but Ayestaran believes his side have been unlucky more than anything else.

“It’s a setback because [Garay] needs to adapt and he’s out,” the Coach said at a Press conference.

“I have confidence in the players that are going to play. Santos is training well and I have complete confidence that he’ll have a good game.

“I won’t get angry. It’s the reality, but I won’t lose a second to it. I focus my attention on things that I can control.

“If we’ve lost then it’s because we’ve deserved to, but there are things that we’ve done well.

“I’ve always felt fully supported. I’m convinced that the fans are concerned, but we’re fully committed and working at 100 percent. We feel responsible for what’s happened.

“We don’t need to be very different. We hope to avoid conceding the goals that we’ve conceded.

“In our style of play, we have conviction. For me, winning is important but not in just any manner.

“The players are enjoying their work but are frustrated because they haven’t been rewarded. I see them wanting to make things right. They want to enjoy the result.

“We must try to control [Athletic’s] strength. They have a clear philosophy and a coaching staff that have achieved results and possess great experience.

“We’re trying to control [the anxiety]. The results have created a need to reverse the situation from the first minute. We have to be a little more mature.

“I don’t understand football any other way. It’s very difficult to change because it creates little conviction. I don’t see myself changing my style of play.”
