Roberto Carlos looks set to return to Real Madrid, possibly in a role working within the club’s youth set-up.
Carlos told radio show Punto Pelota on Monday that he has been meeting with Madrid and expects there to be a development soon, but ruled out taking a role as sporting director.
“It’d be an honour for me to work for Real Madrid. I’ve had a meeting about my future at the club,” he confirmed, AS reports.
“Now I’m off for a few days and on Friday we will know something about my future with the club.
“Being sporting director would be a bit difficult. What I want is to learn from Zinedine Zidane and help in training. I could learn a lot from him.
“Zidane’s Madrid is going to be completely different from the Madrid of the former Coach. It’ll get better each time. Zidane was a leader in the locker room.
“The Coach has to be a friend of the players. There was no affection with Rafa Benitez.”
