Sevilla’s Unai Emery rates the Copa del Rey derby with Real Betis as ‘50% tactics, 50% the emotional aspect.’
The clubs meet in the first leg at Benito Villamarin off the back of League defeats, Betis going down 4-0 at home to Eibar and Sevilla beaten by Granada.
“In Betis-Sevilla, Sevilla-Betis, everything that has happened before doesn’t matter,” Emery replied, Marca reports, when the teams’ recent form was raised.
“It’s 90 minutes between two teams representing a city with a tremendous rivalry. Playing the game at a tactical level will be 50%, but the emotional aspect will be the other 50%. You can only live a derby like this.
“I’m really looking forward to this tie and that it’s a derby gives it greater meaning. It’s a beautiful tie for Sevilla, for us. It will be very difficult. A derby has no favourites, and the Cup is where Sevilla want to be.
“The intention is to win the game, but with Betis in their stadium it will be very competitive, we have to be aware that it is 180 minutes and prepare for more than that.”
