Barcelona defender Eric Abidal has returned to training just five months after he underwent a liver transplant.
The French international has revealed via Facebook that he is now exercising in the gymnasium and thanked the people who had helped him in his recovery, particularly the fans.
“Hello friends. I hope you are all well and I am writing to give you some news,” he posted.
“I have started training in the gymnasium again, although for a short time, and I’d like to give thanks to all the Catalans for their great ovation at the Camp Nou during the team’s official presentation.
“I thank everybody for their support.”
Abidal was giving a rapturous welcome by the Barca faithful before the Juan Gamper Trophy game against Sampdoria on Monday night, as the team was officially presented to the supporters.
