Abidal denies Pogba meeting

Barcelona sporting director Eric Abidal has denied holding a meeting with Paul Pogba in the United States over a proposed transfer.

A report in Italian newspaper Tuttosport claims the Manchester United midfielder met with Abidal at a mansion in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, earlier this week to discuss a summer move.

However, according to Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo, Abidal has rejected suggestions he met with the France international.

Barca, though, are understood to be exploring the possibility of luring Pogba from United, who brought him to Old Trafford from Juventus in 2016 for a fee of €120m.

It is a figure that could be prohibitive for the Catalans, while the player’s reported annual salary of €13.6m could also prove a major stumbling block.

It is also understood that Barca will approach United directly should they wish to sign the 25-year-old.
