Philippe Montanier knows it will be difficult for Real Sociedad to end their losing streak away to Barcelona, but he still believes that ‘everything is possible’.
La Real travel to Camp Nou to kick off their Primera campaign in the knowledge that they have lost on the last 14 consecutive trips away to Barcelona.
However, their Coach Montanier is refusing to rule out that defeat No 15 is an inevitability, even if he knows the game will be tough this Sunday.
“Barca will dominate the game with possession, with the collective and individual quality that they have, but in a game everything is possible and we will play our options so as to get a good result,” the Frenchman told reporters today.
“It’s the first game for Coach Tito Vilanova, at home and the club will play to their best. But, we have the ambition to play a good game and to take the first chance to score.”
Optimism is high at Anoeta going into the season, after a solid pre-season and some notable performances by star man Antoine Griezmann.
“We have to see the level of our rivals, but there are people looking forward to this year. Currently there is no euphoria though, we are very focused on this first game of a season that will be tough.
“Griezmann has started pre-season with enthusiasm and a clear idea and he has played well.
“I may play him on the left, in the middle or up front. It’s good to have a high level player with great gusto to help the team.”
