Barcelona have announced that Philippe Coutinho will wear the No 7 shirt next season.
The jersey was understood to have been reserved exclusively for Antoine Griezmann – who turned down a move from Atletico Madrid to the Camp Nou over the summer – but will now be worn by the former Liverpool midfielder.
When Coutinho arrived at Barcelona in January, he took the No 14 shirt to leave the No 7 free, on the understanding that Griezmann would be arriving in the summer.
Luis Figo is the player to have held the No 7 shirt for the longest spell with the Blaugrana when he was at the club between 1995 and 2000.
