Barcelona committed to re-signing Joao Cancelo from Manchester City – on one condition

While Barcelona have little interest in re-signing Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid during the summer, the same is not for his fellow Portuguese, Joao Cancelo. The 29-year-old has had more of a positive impact this season, although he has been noted for multiple defensive “disasterclasses” in recent weeks.

Because of these poor performances, Barcelona are not as committed to re-signing Cancelo, but they would still like to retain his services for another season. However, as Sport have reported, they will also do so if Manchester City agree to another loan deal – they will not try to get him on a permanent basis under any circumstances.

Barcelona have been in the market for another left-back to compete with Alejandro Balde, who will be back from injury next season, and Cancelo certainly fits that bill. It does make sense to keep him if it’s economically viable, although Xavi Hernandez must be aware that he cannot be relied upon defensively in big matches.

  1. Why on earth should City agree to another loan. Barcelona and other Spanish clubs continue to stick the boot in and whine about State funded clubs.

The self entitled so called Spanish giants should act like a big club if they really are a big club. Pay for players instead of trying to use loan deals to drive down purchase prices.

  2. He’s committed and determined in progress of the team Barcelona in future but need to understand essence of the teamwork to pass 👍
