Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos has been linked with a move to Atletico Madrid this week, with some even suggesting that the two have an agreement for him to cross the divide in the Spanish capital. Los Rojiblancos then moved to deny any such rumours, but it is true that he is a player they like.
As per Matteo Moretto, the stories linking Ceballos and Atletico stem from the previous season. Before the 27-year-old had decided to renew his deal with Real Madrid until 2027, Atletico showed interest in him. However this season, they are yet to do so, and while an exit remains possible for Ceballos this summer, it will depend on an imminent conversation with Real Madrid. At that point they will work out whether he will stay their next season or not.

Ceballos has been starved of opportunities this season, featuring for just 571 minutes, and five starts throughout the season. Last year Carlo Ancelotti called him the closest thing they had to Luka Modric, but he has not had the opportunities expected this time round, with Modric himself being benched for much of the campaign.
