Zinedine Zidane unconcerned by Barcelona’s ‘extra rest’ ahead of El Clasico

Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane has dismissed concerns about Barcelona having a extra day's rest ahead on Wednesday's El Clasico tie at the Camp Nou.

The Frenchman was asked about the situation, ahead of Los Blancos' La Liga trip to Valencia this weekend, however he was in bullish mood ahead of a crucial week from the club.

"It is La Liga that set the fixture schedules, not me," he told reporters from Marca during his pre-match press conference.

"We must respect the calendar, we cannot change that."

Barcelona face a tough trip to Real Sociedad, with Zidane's side travelling to Valencia for an Estadio Mestalla showdown on Sunday night, and he insisted that is where their focus is.

"We are not talking about Wednesday's game yet."

"We will talk about it after tomorrow's game, at the moment, I am not interested."

"Tomorrow is the important one."

Zidane also confirmed that he is considering starting Brazilian international Casemiro against Albert Celades's side, despite a booking in that game ruling him out of the trip to Catalonia.
