Zinedine Zidane calls on Real Madrid fans to end Gareth Bale negativity

Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane has asked fans to leave Gareth Bale in peace, following recent controversy involving the forward.

Bale returned to the Real Madrid squad as a second half substitute in the 3-1 home win over Real Sociedad, however he was whistled by Real fans following his involvement with Wales last week.

The 30-year old has missed over six weeks of club action, despite being fit for the last fortnight, but he played twice for Ryan Giggs' side as they sealed automatic qualification for Euro 2020.

Alongside playing for Wales, he was also photographed with a Wales flag carrying the slogan, 'Wales.Golf.Madrid. In That Order' in a nod to his previous treatment in the Spanish capital.

However, Zidane, who wanted to sell Bale in the summer, has now called on the club´s supporters to put any negativity behind them, and support Bale in the coming weeks.

"I hope the whistling does not continue for the rest of the season," he told reporters from Marca in his post game interview.

"We want the fans to be with us at all times."

"I understand that the fans what to express themselves, but I would like them to applaud every player."

"I cannot really say if the whistling towards him (Bale) was unfair, but I was happy with his performance and the result."

Zidane also confirmed that he has not spoken to Bale about the publicised incident with Wales, and has only spoken to him to congratulate hi on qualification.

Bale is now set to keep his place in the Real Madrid squad, with a midweek Champions League clash with Paris Saint-Germain followed by league ties with Alaves and Espanyol.
