Luis Enrique to return as Spain boss for Euro 2020

Luis Enrique will return to manage the Spain national team for next summer’s European Championships, report Cadena Cope.

Former Barcelona boss Enrique stepped down from the role earlier this year due to personal circumstances, with his number two Robert Moreno stepping into the role.

It was later revealed that the circumstances were due to Enrique spending time with his terminally ill daughter, who tragically passed away earlier this year.

Moreno, Enrique’s long-term assistant who stepped in to take the helm of the last three matches, is now set to replace him in the role.

La Roja are unbeaten across the eight games of which Moreno has been at the helm – recording six victories and two draws – and they have sealed their place in next summer’s finals.

Moreno – previous number two at Roma, Celta Vigo and Barcelona – is said to be very well-liked within La Roja’s squad but has repeatedly said he would step down should Enrique feel he could return to the role.

It is said that the Spanish FA will provide clarity on the situation in the coming days.
