Revamped Spanish Supercopa draw on Monday

The Spanish FA have confirmed that the draw for the revamped Spanish Supercopa will be held this Monday, but no venue has yet been announced.

Last season’s one-off match between Barcelona and Sevilla was played in the Moroccan city of Tangier, but the game is usually played over two legs in Spain.

The two-legged system has now been scrapped with the games to be played over one-off semi-final and final matches, with the competition running across five days in early January.

The four teams competing this season are Barcelona (La Liga holders), Valencia (Copa del Rey winners), along with Atletico de Madrid and Real Madrid – who qualified courtesy of their second and third placed finishes in the league.

The semi-finals will be Wednesday, January 8 and Thursday, January 9, 2020. The final, between the winning clubs of both the semi-finals, on Sunday, January 12, 2020.

The draw for the semi-finals will be made on Monday November 11 at 4pm Spanish time, while the winners will pocket €2m, the runners-up €1.4 with each defeated semi-finalist netting €800k.
