Leicester City track Real Sociedad defender Diego Llorente

Leicester City have Real Sociedad defender Diego Llorente on a shortlist of desired transfer targets, say LeicestershireLive.

It follows on from a July report in El Mundo Deportivo that West Ham and Tottenham were among the clubs monitoring a transfer last summer.

The outlet says that a number of English clubs are interested in the signature of the central defender with the pair, alongside Fulham and Liverpool, among those to have scouted the player last season.

The 26-year-old joined La Real two summers ago in a €6m transfer from Real Madrid and whilst he has a release clause of €50m, the club are not said to be under any financial pressure to sell.

It is claimed that English clubs may bid in the region of €25m for the defender, while Madrid could also theoretically sign him for that amount due to the 50% sell-on clause they inserted into his contract as part of the 2017 transfer.

Llorente previously enjoyed loan spells in the top-flight at Rayo Vallecano and Malaga before his move to the Basque Country, while he has won four caps for the Spanish national team.
