Santi Cazorla open to MLS switch

Villarreal captain Santi Cazorla has admitted he would consider a move to the United States before retirement from professional football.

Cazorla, 34, returned to Villarreal at the start of the 2018-19 season, following an injury dominated end to his six years at Premier League side Arsenal.

He has since been handed the captain's armband at El Madrigal, after a fantastic showing the Yellow Submarine's midfield in the past 12 months.

The former Malaga midfielder has also returned to the Spain team, after a hiatus of four years, and signed a new one-year contract extension at the start of the 2019-20 campaign.

However, according to reports in Catalan newspaper Mundo Deportivo, he is aware of possible interest from America, and would consider a transatlantic move.

"I love the United States, it is a fantastic place.

"i know people have mentioned me potentially moving there.

"It would certainly be something I would consider."

Cazorla's deal with Javi Calleja's side expires in June, and he is expected be offered another one-year contract, as per his current deal, but he could look for a final hurrah in the US.
