Manchester United goal keeper David De Gea suffered a serious hip injury as Spain sealed their Euro 2020 qualification in Sweden.
A late goal from Rodrigo Moreno stole a 1-1 draw in Solna, but the result cam at a price for La Roja, as De Gea was taken off in pain just before the hour mark.
De Gea was brought in to the starting line up in place of Chelsea's Kepa Arrizabalaga, who started in the 1-1 draw in Norway last week, and the former Athletic Bilbao replaced De Gea in this tie.
Manager Robert Moreno confirmed that De Gea indicated his injury to the team's medical staff at half time, but was determined to stay on in the second half.
However he appeared to worsen the injury trying to prevent Marcus Berg's opening goal, with medics going straight on to the pitch to help the stricken goal keeper.
Moreno was unable to offer any update on De Gea after the game, however he did confirm that he would undergo tests in the morning, but early indications have him ruled out for at least a week.
That news will be a hammer blow for United, who are due to host Premier League leaders, and arch rivals Liverpool, at Old Trafford this weekend.
