Sergio Ramos remains with Spain squad despite suspension

Spain captain Sergio Ramos will stay with the squad for their Euro 2020 qualifier away in Sweden – despite missing the game through suspension.

Ramos picked up his third yellow card of the qualification campaign in the 1-1 draw with Norway, for a deliberate handball, meaning he will miss the game in Solna, as La Roja look to confirm their place at next summer's tournament.

However the Real Madrid skipper confirmed that he had spoken to manager Roberto Moreno, and would remain with the squad until they return to Spain next week.

Ramos broke the Spanish all time appearance record in Oslo, with his 168th appearance for the national team, moving ahead of former Real Madrid goal keeper Iker Casillas.

Moreno is expected to make changes to the side that drew with Lars Lagerback's team, with Ramos' place expected to be taken by either Inigo Martinez or Diego Llorente.
