Barcelona’s Ansu Fati misses trip to Getafe

Barcelona will be without teenage forward Ansu Fati for their weekend trip to Getafe due to a knee injury, it has been confirmed.

The 16-year-old was in contention for a starting place due to the injury to Lionel Messi, who also misses the trip to the southern Madrid suburb.

It is now likely that Luis Suarez, Antoine Griezmann and Ousmane Dembele – who has recovered from injury – will start in an attacking trio for Ernesto Valverde’s side.

Fati – born in Guinea Bissau – scored and assisted on his first start for the Blaugrana in their 5-2 win over Valencia earlier this month and his level of performance has generated a great level of excitement.

The 16-year-old now looks set to play for Spain’s Under-17 side in next month’s World Cup in Brazil after the Spanish FA ensured the paperwork was processed, as outlined by El Mundo Deportivo.

That means that the Catalan giants will miss the player for up to five weeks of first-team action, which the club are said to be particularly unhappy about.
