Newcastle eye Sevilla midfielder Rony Lopes

Sevilla are prepared to sell midfielder Rony Lopes just one month after his signing with Newcastle United interested, say reports.

Born in Brazil, Lopes spent his youth career at Benfica and Manchester City but joined Monaco in 2015 and, aside from a season on loan at Lille, has spent the time since at the club.

He subsequently joined the Andalusian club last month in a deal worth in the region of €20m but has not started any of the opening six games of the season – with substitute appearances against Celta Vigo and Qarabag.

Lopes move to Sevilla coincided with the deal which takes striker Wissam Ben Yedder to the Ligue 1 club – with his valuation of €40m from his release clause lowering the transaction in real terms.

It is now claimed by El Gol Digital that the 23-year-old may be available in the January market with a series of other players at Sevilla preferred by Coach Julen Lopetegui.
