Real Madrid unrecognisable from PSG defeat – Monchi

Sevilla sporting director Monchi has described Real Madrid as ‘unrecognisable’ in their victory in Seville as their midweek defeat to PSG.

Los Blancos had slumped to a three-goal loss in the French capital just four days prior to their trip to Sevilla – who had previously been unbeaten this season and recording a 1-0 victory.

Karim Benzema’s second half header was enough to seal victory for Zinedine Zidane’s side and it was the visitors who were on top throughout the match.

“Real Madrid were very good…they were not recognisable from their defeat in Paris,” Monchi is cited as telling reporters by Marca.

“Here they have performed at a very level and much higher than they did in the Champions League, this is a team who were built to win and were very difficult to play against.

“This was a game with few scoring chances, and practically none that were clear – Madrid have had three big chances, but they did not kill us.

“This is a very long season for us and we are now going to draw any conclusions from our first few games or from this defeat.”
