Zinedine Zidane plays down PSG defeat in Champions League opener

Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane was pragmatic about his side after their 3-0 opening Champions League defeat at PSG.

The Ligue 1 champions dominated Zidane's side for the full 90 minutes, and despite a fantastic record in Europe in his first spell in charge, he refused to criticise his side for their poor showing.

"We were not at the level I expected, but PSG played very well.

"We lacked intensity and that was punished tonight, and they were better than us in every department, but we cannot overestimate the result.

"We were below par, but that is all it is.

"I am only concerned by our level of intensity, but we will work on that."

Zidane was refused to blame goal keeper Thibaut Courtois, who was easily beaten by Angel Di Maria for the opening goal, stating that the team would share the blame for the performance, and not just the Belgian international.
