Ernesto Valverde hails ‘special’ Ansu Fati

FC Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde has predicted a bright future for teenage sensation Ansu Fati.

The 16-year old became FC Barcelona's youngest ever goal scorer against Osasuna CF a fortnight ago, and Valverde handed the La Masia academy graduate a first start in the 5-2 La Liga win over Valencia CF.

With Lionel Messi and Ousmane Dembele both still sidelined through injury, and Luis Suarez still working his way back to full fitness, Fati took his chance with a goal and an outstanding performance in front of the Camp Nou.

Despite not turning 17 until the end of October, Valverde confirmed he will remain with the first team this season and he is confident that the Guinea-Bissau born forward will continue to improve.

"Ansu Fati is a player who has something really special about him.

"He is very focused on his own improvement and I am confident of his progression.

"How he develops will depend on him, but he looks to have the correct attitude.

"He has adapted well to being a first team player, but he must continue to work hard."

Valverde also confirmed that Fati would be included in FC Barcelona's Champions League squad to face Borussia Dortmund in midweek.
