Match reaction from the press room after Spain’s victory in Romania

Robert Moreno: The suffering makes us stronger.

Manager Robert Moreno gave his reaction to Spain's TVE channel directly after Spain's fifth win in a row in Group F of their UEFA Euro 2020 group campaign.

The manager confirmed that: "I had told the group prior to the game that Romania were an effective side and could be dangerous in the final moments."

He added that: "The result should have been more clear cut as we put ourselves under needless pressure but the suffering we will make us stronger."

Speaking about individual performances he insisted that: "Saúl and Fabián give us football and goals. They changed the system and worked well from wide when they cut in from the wings."

To conclude, he said: "The team looks forward to scoring goals and is very happy to collect the three points."

Later, Captain Sergio Ramos discussed the match, explaining: "The team needs to learn to kill off games and not to suffer so much.

"We are very happy to collect the three points but need to win more convincingly to not arrive to the end of the match with fear of losing the lead.

"We knew from the outset that it was going to be a difficult game. There are no easy games at international level these days and so it has proved to be.

"We produced a great first half and created numerous chances to give ourselves a healthier lead. Maybe in the second half, we dropped off in terms of our intensity levels and they took advantage as they had nothing to lose."

Finally, he confirmed that the yellow card he received, "was a misunderstanding – it (the goal) was dedicated to my nephew of whom both him and I wear glasses."
