PSG sign Sevilla goalkeeper Sergio Rico

Paris St-Germain have signed Spanish goalkeeper Sergio Rico on a season-long loan with an option to buy from Sevilla, it has been confirmed.

The 26-year-old had previously been on a season-long loan deal at Fulham having made 169 appearances for his hometown club.

Rico made 29 appearances in the Premier League for the West London club but was always likely to be second choice to Tomas Vaclik at Los Rojiblancos this campaign.

Marca highlight the goalkeeper’s ‘deterioration of his relationship with the club’s fans’ as a key reason behind their decision to move him on this summer.

They had attempted to sell Rico on a permanent deal but no buyer had emerged and late in the window the Parisian club approached Sevilla with the proposal of the loan arrangement with a non-compulsory purchase option.

French champions PSG are currently top of Ligue 1 with three wins and one defeat from their opening four games, and they also signed Sevilla midfielder Pablo Sarabia in a €20m deal earlier this summer.
