Atletico Madrid want Mauro Icardi loan move

Atletico Madrid are looking to secure a last minute loan move for Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi.

The Argentina international has expressed his desire to leave the Serie A giants, and he has been linked with club from across Europe's major league this summer.

However according to reports in Diario AS, Diego Simeone's side do face competition from Ligue club AS Monaco – who have highlighted the 26-year old as their replacement for Radamel Falcao.

The reports states that following the collapse of their move for Valencia CF forward, Atletico have now turned their attentions to Icardi, as they look to increase their striking options following the departure of ANtoine Griezmann and injury to ALvaro Morata.

Leonardo Jardim's side are willing to offer Icardi a permanent €65M deal, with a reported annual salary of €10M, however he is not keen on a move to France – preferring to remain in Italy, or move to La Liga.

Given the time constraints of the European transfer window closing on September 2nd, Atletico prefer a loan move with a purchase option at the end of the 2019-20 season.
