The return of Zinedine Zidane to Real Madrid in March persuaded Isco to remain at the club regardless of any other outcomes, report Marca.
It is claimed that the Spain international – who completely fell out of favour at the club under previous boss Santiago Solari – had been prepared to leave Los Blancos this summer.
However, Zidane’s return ensured that the playmaker had no intention of leaving the club and instead remain at Madrid under any circumstances.
He then strived to make himself uncontactable throughout the summer and made it clear to the club that he would not countenance any offer from clubs interested in his services.
Madrid are said to have rejected approaches for the former Malaga player on this basis, with the hope that Isco would hold a role with greater prominence this season.
The 27-year-old is currently ruled out with a hamstring injury and is set to miss the next two or three weeks of action.
