Marcelo: Real Madrid do not need new signings

Experienced full-back Marcelo insists that Real Madrid have no need to sign any more players before the close of the transfer window.

Los Blancos have splashed out €300m in new signings this summer including €55m on Lyon defender Ferland Mendy, who will compete directly with the Brazilian for the left-back slot this season.

However, no new signings started the opening day La Liga win at Celta Vigo – with Eden Hazard out injured – and Marcelo, who started, is happy with the squad.

“Our team is good, we know this,” Marcelo told Bild, as cited by El Mundo Deportivo.

“It is always hard (to win trophies), but if we focus on our work, we can win all of them. We do not need reinforcements.

“Criticism over my performances? I am used to it and it has been the same since I joined the club, it is always there.

“I know when I play well and I know when I do not, but I know I have to work to return my best level – but it is nothing more than that.”
