La Liga have informed Granada, Malaga and Las Palmas they will not be allowed to register any more players for official competition.
As the report in Marca outlines, the trio of clubs will not be allowed to bring more players into their first-team squad until they 'normalise their salary control'.
This is because the clubs are currently operating at their maximum budget and, from 2012 onwards, clubs in the body of La Liga – the top two divisions – can only spend the money which they declare and prove to be within their power.
The economic control was officially established in the 2013-14 season and its main priority is that it ensures all Spanish clubs comply with UEFA’s Financial Fair Play regulations.
Granada are the only club of the three in Spain’s top-flight – having won promotion this summer, following a two-year absence – while both Malaga and Las Palmas remain in the second tier.
Malaga signed former Leicester City forward Shinji Okazaki (pictured) this summer but all three clubs now must free up space on their wage bill through player exits before any more incomings arrive.
