Celta Vigo out of running for Sevilla’s Nolito

Forward Nolito may stay at Sevilla this summer with Celta Vigo unwilling to meet his €4m valuation, according to reports.

El Mundo Deportivo cite a report in Faro de Vigo that the Galician outfit are unwilling to meet the transfer fee for the forward, who they thought would be available at a minimal fee.

The 32-year-old has one year left on his contract at the Andalusian club but had been thought to be likely to request that he be allowed to leave this summer.

The forward featured in just 74 minutes of La Liga action last year and despite featuring 13 times in cup competitions, desperately wants more first-team football.

However, Nolito has impressed in pre-season for the Andalusian club this summer and may yet remain beyond the summer, despite the club making 10 additions to the first-team squad.

Nolito played for Celta across three seasons between 2013 and 2016, netting 39 league goals in that timeframe and earning an €18m move to Manchester City.

However, he netted just six times in an ill-fated spell in England and lasted just one full season before returning to La Liga with Sevilla the following year in a €9m move.

Having began his professional career with Barcelona – for whom he made two substitute La Liga appearances in 2010/11 – Nolito had spells with Benfica and Granada before a move to Galicia.

Celta are hopeful of adding to their strikeforce this summer with Santi Mina already joining in the deal that took Maxi Gomez to Valencia.
