Eibar’s Marc Cucurella continues to wait on Barcelona

Barcelona are giving Eibar full-back Marc Cucurella an ‘uncomfortable wait’ over his future, according to a report in Marca.

The Basque club completed the permanent signing of Cucurella from the Blaugrana in a €2m deal earlier this summer but his former club possess a €4m buyback option.

However, whilst this has not yet been confirmed, it is expected that the Catalan giants will subsequently buy him back but are yet to confirm the move.

In a convoluted operation, it has been speculated that the left-back – who has also been linked to both Milan and Borussia Dortmund – will then be made available for a permanent sale for €10m.

The full-back made 33 first-team appearances at Ipurua last season and has shown a lot of potential, to attract scouts from several leading European clubs.

Reports claim the player’s future is very much up in the air at this point, with Barca leaning towards selling the player permanently despite his promise due to their need to raise funds.

Cucurella is also a Spain youth international, having represented his country between Under-16 and Under-20 levels.

Ironically, the wing back scored just one goal this season and that was in his final game – against Barcelona.
