Denis Suarez: Difficult to leave the best club in the world

New Celta Vigo signing Denis Suarez has penned an open letter to Barcelona fans: “It has not been easy to leave the best club in the world.”

The central midfielder has rejoined the Galician club after eight years away as he left the Camp Nou in a deal which could reach a total fee of €16m.

“As you know, I've decided to go home to Real Celta de Vigo, to the place where it all began” read a Denis statement.

“This is where I want to continue growing with humility and work helping this club to return to the place it deserves to be. It will not be an easy task and we will need the unconditional support of our fantastic fans, but I am convinced that the time has come to do important things.

“I leave Barcelona behind, my second home. It was not easy to make the decision to close my stage in the best club in the world, but I felt that the time had come to change the air and show everyone the football that I am capable of.

“I had two more years of contract, but after all life is for those who risk, right? I have experienced good times and also not so good ones, but I have learned so much that I can only be grateful.

“Playing with the best and with the best in the world has been an honour and a privilege.”
