Santi Cazorla: It is good to be back with Spain

Santi Cazorla spoke of his delight at returning to the Spanish national team, after a four year absence.

The Villarreal midfielder, who had suffered two career threatening injuries during his time at Arsenal, has enjoyed a renaissance in form since returning to La Liga at the start of the 2018-19 campaign.

Those performances persuaded Luis Enrique to bring him back into the national team fold, and he played the full 90 minutes as Spain brushed aside the Faroe Islands with a 4-1 win.

"It was easy to play with these players again, as they make it so easy to play my game.

"I am so happy to be back with the national team."

The Nordic side gave La Roja a few scares in the first half, but goals from Sergio Ramos, Jesus Navas, Jose Gaya and an own goal from Teitur Grestsson secured a third successive UEFA European Championships qualifier win.

"Games like this again these opponents can seem easy, but they are not.

"We had to stay focused after the scare of their goal and that got the win in the end."

Spain facce Sweden in midweek at the Santiago Bernaebeu, and win would out them in the driving seat to qualify for next year's competition, but the 34-year old is taking nothing for granted.

"The game against Sweden will be complicated, because they are a good side.

"But, with our home fans behind us, we are confident."
