POST MATCH: Spain cruise past Faroe Islands with 4-1 win

Spain maintained their 100% record in UEFA Euro 2020 qualifying, with a 4-1 win away with the Faroe Islands.

La Roja were quick off the mark, to prevent any chance of a potential upset at the hands of the Nordic minnows, with skipper Sergio Ramos heading home from a corner after just seven minutes to settle any nerves for the visitors.

Veteran full back Jesus Navas doubled their lead on 18 minutes, as the Sevilla player collected Iago Aspas' through ball to fire home from just inside the area.

The visitors did hit back, despite Spain dominating possession in the first half, as striker Klaemint Olsen hooked home from a corner, on 29 minutes, following a knock down from Odmar Faero.

However the visitors went not fazed by the shock of a Faroe's goal, with a third goal coming four minutes later as Isco's cross hit the post and ricocheted off goal keeper Teitur Gestsson for an own goal.

Spain turned on their attacking power after the break, with Isco, Alvaro Morata and Aspas all denied by Gestsson in the second period as they pushed for a fourth goal.

Full back Jose Gaya finally got that fourth goal for Spain – his first international goal – with a delicate chip from substitute Marco Asensio's brilliant through ball on 70 minutes.
