Valencia’s Nemanja Maksimovic joins Getafe permanently

Getafe have completed the signing of midfielder Nemanja Maksimovic from Valencia in a €5m deal, it has been confirmed.

The 24-year-old joined Los Che from Kazakhstani side FC Astana in 2017 on a five-year contract but failed to make an impact in the first team at the Mestalla.

However, the convoluted deal sees Valencia retain 30% of the player’s rights but can no longer resign the player – losing out on their €7.5m option to buy him outright.

The Serbian international played a total of 40 games this season for Los Azulones and was instrumental in helping them to a remarkable top five finish this season.

Jose Bordalas’ side narrowly missed out on a Champions League spot but will be in the Europa League next season with the central midfielder set to play a key part once more.

It is said by the report that the player only had eyes for continues at the club based in Madrid’s southern outskirts while Valencia are said to be keen to free up funds to invest in their squad.
