FC Barcelona hold crisis talks on team bus

Senior players in the FC Barcleona squad held an emergency meeting on the team bus following their Copa del Rey final defeat to Valencia CF this weekend.

According to a report in Diario AS, key players, including captain Lionel Messi, Gerard Pique and Luis Suarez led the meeting, with frustration running high after the Catalan side failed to secure a domestic double.

AS cites that witnesses at Sevilla airport claim that certain players stayed on the bus after they arrived for their return flight to Barcelona, with some players and staff members having to wait an additional 10 minutes to board an airport shuttle bus.

Club President Josep Bartomeu has again reiterated the board's commitment to retaining Ernesto Valverde as manager, with the former Athletic Bilbao boss also stating that he wants to stay at the Camp Nou for the 2019-20 campaign.

Messi has previously stated his support for his manager, following their Champions League exit at Liverpool, however the Argentina international declined to speak to the media after the final.
