Pablo Machin calls on Sevilla ‘to lift their heads’

Sevilla boss Pablo Machin has called on his players to ‘lift their heads’ for Wednesday’s Europa League return leg against Lazio.

The Andalusian side lead 1-0 from the first leg ahead of the return in Seville, thanks to Wissam Ben Yedder’s away goal, but have won just two of their last eight domestic matches.

“We have to lift our heads,” Machin told a pre-match press conference.

“We’ve had worse times. They’re part of football, especially when you’re a team like us with big objectives.

“It’s all in our hands. We have to overturn the situation and tomorrow we’ll be back playing in a historic competition.

“We must believe in ourselves and plan the match from the first moment. Tomorrow is a hugely-important match for us. We have to get back to winning.

“We’ve had chances, but what’s missing is consistency. We have to do a bit more than we did before to turn them into goals.

“The team are talented, the players have always shown it, so we must keep doing what we’re doing.

“Luis Alberto is an important player for them, but my team worry me more, even if Lazio are a great team. They have nothing to lose.

“Immobile’s a player who knows this stadium. We’ll keep an eye on him, even if I don’t really know his physical level. I hope he doesn’t celebrate his birthday against us.”
