Villarreal’s Ruben Semedo joins Rio Ave on loan

Ruben Semedo has left Villarreal to join Portuguese club Rio Ave on a loan deal after ending his temporary spell at Huesca.

Huesca gave Semedo a chance to redeem himself after a stint in prison but ended his loan spell earlier this month after accusing him of ‘disrespecting club values’.

The judge in the central defender’s legal case has granted him permission to leave Spain in order to continue his career, as per a report in AFE press agency.

Semedo is awaiting trial on charges of attempted murder, injuries, threats, illegal detention and illegal possession of weapons – charges for which he has already spent six months in prison.

The 24-year-old made 12 appearances for Huesca, who are bottom of La Liga, this season.
