Pablo Machin happy with Sevilla despite results

Pablo Machin has called on his Sevilla side to improve but believes defeats are ‘masking’ the many good things his side are doing.

Los Rojiblancos have not scored in any of their last three league games, losing the last two, and commence their Europa League group stage campaign against Standard Liege on Thursday.

“Undoubtedly we have things to improve but we are not getting carried away,” Machin is cited as saying by Marca.

“In football, the result often decides all feelings – when you lose everything is awful, the very worst. Then if you win, it’s as if you have not made any mistakes and you were perfect.

“The result masks a lot of things that happen in the game and I know that what I am saying may sound unpopular, but we are not playing badly.

“It is true that we have made mistakes but overall I am happy with the performances and of course I would like improvements everywhere.

“It is great for us to be back in the Europa League, a historic competition for Sevilla who have obviously achieved a lot here.

“Standard Liege are a tough opponent, they play directly, have good players and a great Coach.”
