Pierre Webo returns to Uruguay

Former Cameroon international and La Liga striker Pierre Webo has returned to Uruguayan club Nacional, 16 years after leaving the club.

Now 36, Webo spent eight years of his career in Spanish football, appearing in 227 games for Osasuna, Leganes and Real Mallorca combined and scoring 47 goals.

The Cameroonian left his native country and Stade Bandjoun in 1999 and soon joined Nacional, with Marca citing him as saying: “It was a very nice experience, I came there by chance, because of the desire I had to leave my country to professional football.”

Webo has spent the last seven years of his career in Turkish football after leaving La Liga, playing for Istanbul BB, Fenerbahce, Osmanlıspor and Gazişehir.
