Real Sociedad striker Imanol Agirretxe has retired from football aged 31 following a series of injury problems, he has confirmed.
An injury sustained in December 2015 following a challenge with Real Madrid goalkeeper Keylor Navas led to a series of problems which saw him fail to return to first-team action for 18 months.
Having spent the entirety of his professional career at La Real, Agirretxe missed the entirety of the 2016/17 campaign and featured just 13 times last campaign.
However, following a thigh injury sustained in training earlier this week with the expectancy that he would miss another three months, he has taken the decision to desire.
The 31-year-old netted 75 goals in a total of 273 appearances for the Basque club spanning 14 years.
