Espanyol goalkeeper Pau Lopez has rejected offers from Juventus and Tottenham to agree to join Real Betis, say reports in the Spanish press.
The 23-year-old has established himself as first choice shot-stopper at the RCDE Stadium this campaign, starting 19 of the club’s La Liga outings, but is out of contract in June.
Indeed, the shot-stopper has only disappeared from the starting line-up in recent weeks – replaced by Diego Lopez – due to his commitment to join Los Verdiblancos this summer.
A report in ABC de Sevilla confirms that a deal has been agreed for Lopez to sign a five-year deal at Betis and that he rejected late advances from Juve and Spurs, where he would not automatically be first-choice.
Lopez, who formed part of Spain’s Under-21 squad in the European Championships last year, is seen as the long-term replacement for Antonio Adan at the Seville-based club.
Adan is out of contract with Betis in 2019 while backup goalkeeper Dani Gimenez, 35, is set to leave the club this summer when his contract expires.
