Reyes welcomes Sanchez Flores reunion

Jose Antonio Reyes reveals a reunion with Quique Sanchez Flores was part of why he accepted Espanyol’s offer.

Reyes left Sevilla at the end of his contract and with Sanchez Flores appointed to lead Los Periquitos’ new project following his Watford departure, the former Spain forward was snapped up on a free transfer.

“I was with Quique at Benfica and Atletico Madrid. He gets the best out of each player, you can talk to him. He’s the perfect Coach for the Espanyol project,” Reyes said at his presentation, Marca reports.

“I’ll try to give my best. Not everyone will like my signing, everyone has their opinion, but the important thing is to play and change those ideas on the pitch. We can all say a lot with words but what’s important is on the pitch.

“I’m heartened that Quique is on the bench. Ramon Robert and Angel Gomez [CEO and sporting director respectively] have been pestering me to come. No player who was offered what they have offered could say no.”
